In Episode 29 of Light Bulb Moments, I’ll be speaking with Barry Waitte. Barry has a remarkable story of transformation, shifting from a thriving tech career in Silicon Valley to becoming a renowned winegrower in Napa Valley. A proud graduate of California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo, Barry found success in the early days of tech giants like Apple and AOL. However, he later traded the fast-paced tech world for a life among the vineyards, pursuing his passion for viticulture and enology, which he further honed through studies at UC Davis. Now the President of the Oakville Winegrowers Association, Barry continues to thrive in his second career while actively engaging in his community.
An avid sportsman, Barry’s accomplishments extend beyond his professional life. He has won two national titles in long-distance horse racing (50 and 100 miles) and earned a Gold Medal at the Pan American Equestrian Championships in Maryland.
